As Michigan faces an alarming shortage of affordable and suitable housing for its growing senior population, Met Plus has stepped up with a transformative initiative to reclaim and revitalize Detroit for its elderly residents. The launch of the Lemay Senior Complex—part of Met Plus’ Senior Village Project—marks the beginning of a comprehensive solution to the state’s senior housing crisis.

Mission and Vision
Met Plus is on a mission to create spaces that promote dignity, connection, and stability for seniors, ensuring that no elder is left behind. With a vision of affordable and inclusive housing, the organization aims to provide Detroit’s aging population with secure and comfortable living arrangements.

The Senior Crisis in Michigan
Michigan’s senior population faces numerous challenges:
Rising living costs have displaced many older adults.
A severe lack of suitable housing options has led to long waiting lists for affordable living spaces.
Many seniors are left vulnerable to homelessness and neglect without adequate support.
This crisis calls for immediate intervention, and Met Plus’ Senior Village Project is positioned to be part of the solution.
